Work Experience at Extract Technology Ltd
Recently Extract Technology UK had the pleasure of welcoming a local high school student into our UK Head Office for a 2 week comprehensive work experience ordeal.
Louis visited all departments in the company and learned a bit about our job roles and tasks while learning and performing some of our duties. All participants have shared a short overview of his Extract adventure:
“I thoroughly enjoyed working with Louis, who gained an insight into the world of IT at Extract Technology. Louis experienced the development of the goods inward label using a new technology platform.” – Gurnam Singh – IT/QA Officer
“When Louis visited Compliance he was given an overview of our testing and review documentation and an insight into the ATEX Classifications that are a key part of our work at Extract. He also helped in putting together a pack for site, printing off drawings and adding them into the folder.” – Hannah Mallin – Compliance Engineer
“Very interested in the design aspect of my job, Louis has shown some great graphic skills and quick learning using both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator software to produce self-designed images. I have also shown him the ins and outs of our email campaign software and walked him through the process of adding enquiries to our Syspro system.” – Ola Tambor, Sales & Marketing Co-ordinator
“While Louis was with me he learnt about and generated a basic FS & HDS, pneumatic and electrical control circuit. He learnt the basics of Siemens LOGO programming and using the HDS & FS he’d written, he wrote and tested a program to control two interlocked inflatable door seals. He also learnt how to generate labels on our label printer.” – Paul Hadfield – Electrical Controls & Instrumentation Engineer
“During his time with the Applications department Louis learned the basic of how conceptual designs are produced through the utilisation of Autocad. Furthermore he was able to gain an insight into effective costing exercises for bespoke equipment. It was a pleasure having Louis with the Applications Team for the day and we hope he learned some valuable things.” – Applications Team

Most importantly, Louis himself enjoyed the experience:
“I am grateful to have had the opportunity of going to Extract Technology for my work experience. I feel that not only have I been given an insight to how the business works but throughout the 2 weeks I have learned many things. The visit has been influential and has helped develop better social skills and what I want to do in the future. Among this, I have learned new varying skills such as Autocad in the offices all the way to stud welding on the factory shopfloor. The most important thing of all is that I really enjoyed it. Louis walked away holding a box and a phone stand, both of which he made from stainless steel in the fabrication department – of course under professional supervision. We really enjoyed his time here and hope it was beneficial to his future career!
