Extract Technology receives The Workplace Wellbeing Charter award
2015 was an important year for Extract Technology. Achieving the ‘Investors in People’ award last March pushed the company to do even more for their employees’ wellbeing and development.
Since 2014 Extract’s been involved in the Better Health at Work programme, providing their employees with access to Health MOT meetings, fitness and healthy food advice and kick-the-habit support. This project, alongside the ‘Investors in People’ achievement inspired Extract to strive for the ultimate certification – The Workplace Wellbeing Charter award.
Extract Technology’s efforts toward the achievement were strongly supported by the company’s Finance Director, Jason Armitage:
The number one asset for any Company is the associates that work for that Company; this is no different for Extract Technology Ltd. Over two years ago as part of the HR strategy for the Company we made health and wellbeing one of our top priorities for all employees. After evaluating opportunities in the market we decided to work closely with the Better Health at Work Team who provided invaluable support and guidance as we turned our strategy into reality. The Better Health at Work Team worked closely with our HR team at Extract Technology Ltd as we created a framework to implement health and wellbeing in our workplace, and I would like to thank the Better Health at Work Team for the professional and productive support they provided throughout the process. The project has been an overwhelming success and achieving the Workplace Wellbeing Charter has been key to driving the change that we were looking for in our business. We now have a happier and healthier workforce which has certainly helped the Company improve productivity throughout. We will continue to enhance and embed the Workplace Wellbeing Charter into our Company on a daily basis.
The Charter focuses on three key areas – leadership, culture and communication – where even small steps can make a big difference to the health of staff, and therefore the health of organisation.
Charter’s committee visited Extract on several occasions in order to assess what they are already doing right, and where they need to improve. Following the visits and deliberations of the committee, the company passed the tests and received an ‘excellent’ note for their Absence Management, Health and Safety and Smoking ‘blocks’. Physical activity and Leadership were also praised.
This is a big achievement for Extract, the HR Officer Jaime Larder comments.
“Achieving the Workplace Wellbeing Charter is a great success for the company as it recognises the journey we have made over the last two years. Two years ago we set out on providing Health MOT’s for all employees which proved to be a success. The last 12 months we have spent preparing and working towards the Charter. Gaining the accreditation is proof of all the hard work that has been put in along with our employees whom have also benefitted from the resources that have now been made for them. It is a great accomplishment for the business and I would like to thank Better Health at Work for all the help, assistance and support.”
