We are very excited and extremely proud to announce Extract Technology has been successful in the run for the Employer of the Year award!
Sponsored by Kirklees Stadium Development, the Employer of the Year title is one of 11 awards presented by Examiner – a local news provider – at the Examiner Business Awards ceremony. We described it in more detail before.
The award was presented during a glittering awards dinner at the John Smith Stadium in Huddersfield. All nominees were invited – 3 companies per category – and the winners were announced on the night of the event.
Each nominated company was introduced with a short video highlighting the values and reasons why they chose to apply. Until that evening we didn’t realise who we were running against and how fantastic those companies are – both ABS UK Ltd, a family-run firm providing print and document management services and window and door manufacturer Quickslide Ltd have displayed great commitment to investing in people, caring about their employees and building new opportunities.
In the end the jury decided to choose Extract Technology and we’d be lying if we said we didn’t jump from joy. It was an extremely honouring moment for the entire Team Extract but especially the company’s directors.
Alan Wainwright commented:
We are absolutely delighted to win this prestigious award and it is testament to everyone’s hard work over a long period of time at Extract Technology. Particularly pleasing was the great story we had to share supported by tangible evidence across the whole business.
A special mention goes to the coalition team – many of who were there on the night – made up of individuals from all areas of the business. The team was brought together to support positive change and have been instrumental in driving a number of cultural, operational and strategic initiatives. People make businesses and it is clear we have great people in our business!
Jason Armitage added:
I am delighted that Extract Technology has been awarded “Employer of the Year” in the Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards; it is a great achievement and recognises the hard work of every employee within the Company.
When the Company formulated a HR strategy over 5 years ago the main themes identified were Employee retention; engagement; communication and a real focus on Organisational Development. Over the past two Years we’ve been awarded the “Investors in People Bronze Award” along with the “Workplace Wellbeing Charter”; both initiatives have involved employees across all disciplines giving them a voice and a sense of belonging. In addition Extract has focused on and invested significantly in the Learning & Development needs of the Company to ensure all members of the Team have the right level of support to achieve individual development goals and deliver the overall company strategy. Jaime Larder; the HR Officer at Extract; has played an integral role in delivering the HR Strategy providing a real drive and energy to the process and the key initiatives undertaken by us. Once again I would like to thank everybody associated with the Company, the “Employer of the Year” award is a fitting recognition for every member of the Extract team.
Paul Hudson was also proud of the achievement:
Winning in the ‘Employer of the year’ category is a landmark business achievement. On personal reflection I believe the highlight would be our team’s approach to tackling the skills gap. We regularly participate in school and college career conventions where we offer career advice to young people with consideration to choosing a traditional apprenticeship. In addition we host ‘Introduction to manufacturing’ visits and offer work experience opportunities here at our facility – this is the approach we adopted for our current apprentices therefore ensuring they made the correct career choice.
